Fiji Airports Clarifies Labasa Airport Runway Works
9 February 2026Nadi International Airport confirms that a full emergency was declared earlier this evening following notification from Air Traffic Control regarding a turn back of an aircraft that had departed for Sydney earlier.
The Pilot had reported a suspected oil leakage on one engine.
In response, Airport Emergency Services were immediately activated, and the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) was established in accordance with the Nadi Airport Emergency Plan.
The aircraft landed safely at 7:50 pm. Following landing, the pilot reported normal operations, and no further issues were identified.
After routine safety and operational checks were completed, the Full Emergency phase was cancelled, and all emergency services were subsequently stood down.
Airport Operations were not affected during the emergency.
